Dr David Blazey is Head of Grants at the Maudsley Charity (www.maudsleycharity.org) in London. He is responsible for managing the Charity’s grants programmes, working with potential applicants who wish to develop innovative projects in mental health, and supporting those who are awarded grants through the lifetime of their projects. David joined the Charity in 2011, while still working in a parallel role for South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (www.slam.nhs.uk) as Head of Social Inclusion and Recovery Projects. In this role he worked with teams across the Trust, as well as many NGOs, to develop new projects supporting social inclusion and recovery. One of the biggest projects was the SLaM Recovery College (www.slamrecoverycollege.co.uk), which continues to play an important part in promoting recovery for people in south London. He has worked in the field of mental health and funding since 2007, having previously worked in adult and further education, latterly in management roles that included arts, regeneration and funding. David is a trustee of the Waddington Street Centre in Durham (www.waddingtoncentre.co.uk) and a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA www.thersa.org). He is committed to the improvement of mental health services and a better world for the people who use them. He has contributed extensively to conferences and learning events in the UK, Hungary, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Estonia, France and the Czech Republic.
